“The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it.” - Ansel Adams

Hello, I'm Layla!

I’m a small-town photographer & lover of light from Cape Town, South Africa living in Lisbon, Portugal. I’m all about plants, dogs, and art. I started with my photography journey at the age of 14, fast forward to 25 and my passion is now my profession!

I always bring my good attitude and sense of humour to work and make sure to create a comfortable atmosphere for my clients.

My images have been described by some as emotional and “golden”.  I use natural light as far as possible; I prefer not using artificial lighting. People often think that natural lighting would only be available outdoors, but it's possible to divert outdoor light indoors using window light and reflectors. Since I prefer to use natural lighting, I recommend shooting in the morning (at sunrise) or in the afternoon (during sunset) Photos shot in natural light provide beautiful warm results. There is something welcoming about warmth and it’s very important to me to catch an emotionally charged, cosy and happy feeling in my images.
